Pim's & The Rama at Aman Suria Damansara (Food Review)

I do enjoy having good Thai food not only in the origin country itself but also the ones in Malaysia since they are well improved to cater our taste bud. There's a plenty of Thai restaurants which I have been to but I did not get to blog about it. Fortunately, I am now blogging about the my experience dining at Pim's & The Rama Thai restaurant and bar. So not too long ago, I dropped by at the place which is located in Aman Suria Damansara.

The very main attraction at Pim's & The Rama is their Pim's Super Seafood Tom Yum Pot which is filled with 13 type of ingredients that consist of various seafood, eggs, vegetables and noodles. Looking at the pot alone had me salivating even at this moment of writing. The pot is filled with freshly picked ingredients and the tom yum broth is rich with its distinct hot and sour flavours from the fragrant spices and herbs. There's different sizes pot from RM88 (1-2pax), RM155.00 (3-4pax) and RM288 (6-8pax).

Just look at the size of the pot. I wouldn't mind having it every week from time to time. If you are trying to be more adventurous, maybe you can order a small pot just for yourself!

The Thai BBQ Pork Sticks (Moo Ping or Moo Yang on a stick) is my favorite street food when I was travelling in Thailand. It's sweet, savoury and comes with a spicy sauce dipping. The price is RM12.00 and comes in three sticks.

Next dish is something very familiar to those who have travelled to Thailand many times. It's the Pad Thai Kung or Pad Thai Prawn Noodles (RM16.50). The noodles were soft but has a nice chewy texture and the prawns were quite springy. If you have no idea what to order, just order the Pad Thai.

The Thai Original Somtam (RM18.00) is a Thai green papaya salad that has a very good kick of spiciness. The taste was actually quite refreshing and good to be eaten as an appetizer.

Here comes the fishes. The Pra Ka Pong Neng Ma Nao or Fresh Siakap Fish Steamed with Chilli and Lime Soup (RM66.00) was nicely cooked and all the ingredients are blended very well into the fish. The sea bass didn't taste fishy at all and it has a very soft texture. For those who love steam fish, this is a must order for you.

The Pra Ka Pong Lad Prik or Boneless & Deep Fried Siakap Fish (RM68.00) is one of my favorite dish. I do enjoy eating deep fried fish a lot since I like the outer layer fish skin which being deep fried but the flesh inside still remain soft. The sweet and sour flavor of the sauce was quite tasty and goes very well with the fish. Just gotta be careful that some parts of the fish are not entirely boneless.

The next dish is the Thai version of Otak Otak. It's the Hor Mok Talay or Otak Otak Seafood (RM25.50) and it's really different from our own. I quite like the softness of the otak otak that have incorporated with different kind of spices. It goes very well with just a plate of plain rice.

Another pork dish is the Thai BBQ Grilled Pork Neck (Kor Moo Yang) RM19.00. In my life, I did not have a lot of pork neck. I probably can count them but this pork neck is really to die for. This is different from the char siew that we can get from the Chinese shops. It's quite moist but the pork neck has a good ratio of meat and fat. I would definitely order this again in my next visit.

The next dish may look fancy but it's actually called, I'm A Thai Pandan Chicken (RM18.90/4pcs). Just like the usual pandan chicken dishes but this one has more depth on the sauce and it has the perfect dipping sauce to go with. Although I like pandan chicken, the price may be a little on the pricey side.

The Kao Ka Moo or Thai Pork Leg on Rice (RM15.90) might look simple but it's actually quite decent. The pork leg is very tender with the softness of the fat and the soft boiled egg is nicely done. It came to my surprise that the rice was very tasty. Not something I usually have, not even something like the Dragon AAA Thai Fragrant Rice that I had before.

Then I tried something I have never tasted before, it's the Tod Man Gong or Signature Fried Prawn Donuts (RM18.90/4pcs). Inside the donut, it's packed with mixture of prawn fillings. It's advisable to eat it while it's still hot or else you would be missing the crispy texture of the outer donut layer.

The Yan Ta Fo (RM39.00) is a Thai pink noodle soup and filled with bean curds, mushrooms, fish balls, vegetables and many more. Some might not enjoy the taste of the pink noodle soup but this one was quite decent. The size of this pink noodle soup is great for sharing too.

Last but not least, it's one my favorite Thai dishes. The Gang Kaw Wan Kai or Thai Green Curry Chicken (RM28.00) is something that I would order whenever I visit a Thai restaurant. This green curry consist of coconut milk, green curry paste, palm sugar, fish sauce, kaffir lime leaves, Thai basil and chicken. This pot is quite enjoyable to me and the chicken were quite tender. I would order this automatically next time.

As for the drinks, I ordered the Thai Iced Royal Milk Tea (RM5.50) on the left and some of us ordered the Thai Purple Drink with Lime (RM5.50). I enjoyed the Thai Iced Royal Milk Tea and the price is actually quite okay.

For those who are into Chang Beer, you can check out their promotion. The price is quite good in my opinion since many places elsewhere usually only offer Tiger Beer or Carslberg at that price. You can also print your Instagram photos by including their hashtag #PIMSRAMATHAI at the restaurant.

An interior shot of the restaurant. They do allow diners to combine the table so that it can cater 8 or more pax. I do recommend to my readers to try out the place. Although the price might be on the higher side but everything will still come down to the food quality, taste and the comfortable setting that they are offering.

Health Benefits from Drinking Caroma Bentong Ginger Tea

Recently, I went over to Plaza Arkadia in Desa Parkcity since I have always wanted to check out the place. The place is relatively new but has decent amount of shops especially the establishment of eatery places as well as the flea market during weekends. The anchor tenant for Plaza Arkadia is Village Grocer and I managed to drop by to grab a few groceries while I was there.

As I was entering Village Grocer, this bunting caught my attention and I was curious to find out about the products that they are offering.

So I proceed to ask the lady promoter who's giving out the samples to Village Grocer's shoppers what the product is all about.

She was very kind to offer me the sample and explain the benefits of Caroma Bentong Ginger Tea. She said that the ingredients in Caroma Bentong Ginger Tea has no preservatives at all, no chemical and pesticides, 100% natural farming and also very suitable for vegetarians. So it's definitely a good news for all the vegans out there. Currently there's three flavors of Caroma Bentong Ginger Tea. I will explain more on the taste of the three flavors later.

Caroma believes in drinking life to the fullest. This philosophy translates to the beverages, which offer great flavour and wholesome benefits. You can almost taste the goodness of life in each sip of Caroma. Every box of Caroma Bentong Ginger Tea consist of 10 sachets and it its priced at RM15.90/box.

Currently they are running a buy two boxes free one small box of five sachets promotion at selected Village Grocer outlets. I can't walk away from a good deal since I will be getting a free small box of five sachets so I bought a box of Caroma Bentong Ginger Tea and Caroma Bentong Ginger with Honey.

Caroma Bentong Ginger Tea

Caroma infuses Bentong ginger with fragrant tea to give you a boost of natural goodness with a spicy ginger flavour. It’s the perfect way to enjoy the healthy benefits of Bentong ginger instantly and fuss-free. Although I’m not fond of having ginger as a drink due to its pungent-ness but it’s actually quite soothing after a few sips. I grew to like the drink after finishing the whole cup.

Caroma Bentong Ginger with Honey

Caroma Bentong Ginger with Honey is specially made from natural Bentong ginger and pure honey. Now you can easily enjoy the healthy goodness of ginger with an added sweetness of honey in our delicious blend. This has more sweetness than the Caroma Bentong Ginger Tea since it's added with honey. If you like the taste of honey then this is definitely for you.

Caroma Bentong Ginger with Honey Lemon

Our delightful blend gives you the natural spiciness of Bentong ginger with an added zest of lemon, and rounded up with the soothing sweetness of pure honey. The result is a deliciously spicy, sweet and tangy mix you can enjoy any time of the day. If you are having sore throat and want to drink honey lemon to ease the soreness, you can try having this Caroma Bentong Ginger with Honey Lemon. The acidic taste can be quite addictive especially when it's mixed with ginger and honey. This is probably my favorite out of the three.

By drinking Caroma Bentong Ginger Tea, we can improve our intestinal absorption of nutrients, digestive process, blood circulation and also to release stress and tension. Now I can opt for this tea rather than my usual coffee, Milo or teh tarik in the morning. Somehow I felt that it has a calming effect too and suitable to drink it in order to get a good night sleep.

The Health and Wellness event scheduled from 1st until 11th of March 2018. If you would like to sample the Caroma Bentong Ginger Tea, you can head to The Health and Wellness event from 1st until 11th March 2018. There will be 5 promoter girls with a sampling tray each to greet shoppers with an offer to taste their ginger tea. The outlets as follows :-

Bangsar Village, Bangsar
1 Mont Kiara, Mount Kiara
Sunway Giza, Kota D’sara,
Desa Park City, Desa Park
My Town, Peel Road, Cheras.

The OTT Race in Malaysia: What will Drive Growth & Expansion

$
0
0
With the kick off of 2018, it’s a good time to pause and evaluate the (Over-the-Top) OTT market and what we think will win in the space. The market numbers are exciting to see, but just as with any compelling drama series you might watch, I think we are in for some twists and turns throughout this year as the competitive plot unfolds. Spoiler alert: We think our innovative freemium business model is one of the key attributes of Viu that sets us ahead of the pack.

Video on Demand (VOD) and Mobile by the Numbers
With Malaysia boasting 43 million mobile subscriptions, the popularity of VOD has never been higher, riding on the access to anywhere anytime video content. Industry predictions highlight the promise of OTT and VOD, with a surge in consumption and revenue anticipated in the next few years. By 2021, the Asia Pacific region will have added 107 million new (Streaming or Subscription Video on demand) SVOD subscribers compared to 2015, with a 220% surge in revenue through SVOD expected - from USD5.74 billion to USD18.4 billion.

The role of mobile internet usage in the region is also key, as Southeast Asians spend an average of 3.6 hours on mobile internet every day, up to several times more than the United States (2 hours), the United Kingdom (1.8 hours) and Japan (1 hour). The bulk of mobile data traffic will consist of video content, with 78% of the world’s mobile data traffic projected to comprise video by 2021 - a 9-fold increase between 2016 and 2021. Consumer VOD traffic is predicted to nearly double in that time; VOD traffic in 2021 is expected to equal 7.2 billion DVDs per month.

All of this has been exciting for us – our monthly active users for our premium video-on-demand service Viu nearly tripled in six months in 2017. We’re optimistic for the future, but know that we must keep a strong focus on how we differentiate from others – whether it’s our approach to content, our long-standing freemium business model that we’ve perfected over time, local partnerships and pricing, deep technology and consumer insights or our sustained long-term investment and commitment to building the market.

Freemium Business Model
A major part of why we have such high consumption on Viu is that we operate on a freemium model that allows us to offer some content for free to attract casual viewers to the platform while offering premium content, such as the latest shows, at an affordable price point (10RM per month).

This model helps us acquire users, it offers our telco partners high data consumption, and it provides our brands with a wealth of opportunities to deliver contextual adds and offers consumers a legitimate source of videos outside of piracy.

Naturally this model is fueled partially because of Viu’s ability to offer a telco-billing based subscription approach, amongst other billing options and partially because Viu is a preferred partner for video advertising. We have achieved this as a result of high engagement, quality of content and our audience profile. Big brands such as Apple, McDonalds and LVMH to name a few, have advertised with us, and programmatically we have also partnered with the likes of Facebook, InMobi and others. Our advertiser appreciate the following about Viu:

Brand-safe content
One-stop-shop for branded content, from ideation to production
Original, localized content for the local consumers’ consumption
Technology-driven approach to ensuring a superior viewing experience

Regional and Original Content
Malaysian viewers love fresh, high quality Asian content and our consumer insights remain a pivotal part of our strategy to offer really good Asian shows that Malaysians want. Not only do we want to inspire viewers with our content strategy, on the creative side, we seek up-and-comers in Southeast Asia. We want to support rising local talent by providing them with a format that optimizes for their creativity and reaching millennials with content that they love. All in a digital format native to them.

Additionally, we bring top Best of Asian, quality content to Malaysia from other countries, such as Japan’s Princess Jellyfish, Korea’s The Sheriff in Town, and India’s Spotlight 2. Viu subscribers can access nearly 10,000 hours of content, including Viu Originals.

Piracy continues to be rampant in our market. The solution is to beat pirates at their own game, ensuring that popular TV shows are available for viewing on our service first, with quality subtitles. People will pay for fresh, current, quality content. Consumers who want the best of different content may even subscribe to multiple services. The fact that the subscription cost of the average OTT platform in Malaysia is the same cost as a pirated DVD is not a coincidence.

Content is available with English subtitles on Viu in as little as eight hours after its native telecast, and with Simplified Chinese and Bahasa Malaysia subtitles added within 24 hours. We offer the fastest localisation in Southeast Asia – with up to 70 hours of fresh regional content per week.

Local Partnerships and Advertising Deals
Throughout all of the 15 markets where Viu is available – Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, India, Indonesia, the Philippines, Thailand and the Middle East countries of Bahrain, Egypt, Jordan, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the UAE – local partnerships are key to our success. That’s why we have partnered with every telco in Malaysia. It’s why we have advertising deals with top brands in Malaysia, such as Apple, Dior and Chanel. And it’s notable that it’s not just ad serving to us, it’s about audience creation and engagement across.

For example, we recently worked with Prudential Assurance Malaysia Berhad on a creative content deal.  I AM WOMAN is an advertising funded production, a Malaysian production by and for OTT video service Viu. I AM WOMAN is a series celebrating extraordinary modern-day heroines, sharing the life stories of women who have found their strength in male-dominated fields.

Everything about what we do is local. Local partnerships, local operations, local pricing. We believe it’s this sustained long term investment and commitment to developing a market that will allow us to come out ahead.

In summary, we believe that in 2018, there will continue to be multiple players in the market, but the winners will be those who understand the following fundamentals:

Seamless onboarding of consumers to experience and enjoy the service, including a freemium model
A compelling content strategy including Best of Asian that is aimed at local markets and drives viewership over the long-term and retains customers
Long-term investment in content, technology and marketing based on deep consumer insights
Real technology expertise rooted in delivering a superior consumer experience
An entrepreneurial culture that emphasizes entertaining consumers and not company valuations
Our viewers can catch the latest and most popular Asian shows and more on Viu, accessible on mobile phones and tablets, as well as desktops. Download the Viu app on the Apple App Store or Google Play Store, or visit Viu’s website at www.viu.com.

Ways to Boost Your Rental Value Through Smart Renovation

$

Whether you are renting out your HDB unit or your condominium unit, there are some works needed to be done if you want your rental value to be increased. A little effort is needed to enhance and appeal to potential tenants. For example, the high density and supply of HDB units in Ang Mo Kio seems to be competitive for landlord to get it occupied. How is the landlord going to turn the HDB unit to standout for potential renters? Here’s how you can do to boost your rental value.

Wall and paint
Yes, it does affect because you would not want to scare off your potential tenants with the old markings of spills or molded walls. Get it paint fresh and choose bright colours. Bright colours enhance the lighting of the house, it will turn the home more warmth with the brightness. Colours like beige, pastel blue, yellow, pink, or those soft colours. Your potential renters may show keen interest with the unit for being warmth, gentle and approachable. Besides you will like to try designing for other rooms with different colour as different colours serve different kind of ambience and mood. For instance, colour scheme suitable for kitchen and dining area would be red, orange and yellow as those colours tend to stimulate to appetites and happiness in the kitchen and dining room. As for bedrooms, you guessed it, calmer and chilled colour like baby blue, pastel green and so on. Get rid of those mold and paint those walls new.

Lights on
Ensure your unit is bright enough to brighten up the entire house. Replace or fix those lightings if necessary, like replace diffused light bulbs. If your living room is big, make sure the lights are covered every corner. Ensure more natural lightings to shine through every part of the house to turn your house looks spacious. Lamps can be part of your house deco like installing chandelier to elevate the elegance in the room. Be careful when you choose your preferred lightings as well. You wouldn’t want your room to have overly intense lights, mixed it up to strike the perfect balance. If you would like to save on your utilities bill, alter your lights position, don’t have to settle with the norms, you will be surprise how much you can save on your bill.

Repair and replace
Yes, repair and replace your household items to boost your rental value. Basic fixtures and fittings like old door knobs, loose door locks, fusing lights, ceiling, water pipe leakage and old electrical items. Fix them if necessary or replace them if needed especially the old electrical appliances. You wouldn’t want your rented HDB to be caught on fire. With these new electrical appliances, you can boost your rental by value adding the features to your potential new tenants. Repair your flooring if there’s crack on the floor or if the colour comes off. Make sure your built-in cabinets’ doors are still intact and tightly screwed.

Focus on the kitchens and bathrooms
Tenants, like everyone else, do not want to step their feet into dirty and molded bathrooms and kitchens especially when the kitchen was heavily used for heavy cooking causing the walls and floors to be oily and molded. What’s even worse is that when the previous tenants clean the toilet once in a blue moon, I can’t even imagine myself to step into the disgusting toilet. As landlord if you’re faced into this worst scenario, don’t skimp on hiring cleaners to clean both kitchen and bathrooms. Ensure they are squeaky clean and sanitized properly, the cleanliness value added the rental value to show the effort of keeping the unit clean and brand new for the potential tenants. Make sure there’s no pipe leakage or dripping tapes in your bathroom and kitchen. During the tenants’ inspection, it is one of the most inspected parts, as tenants do not want to be get frustrated and deal with piping leakage issues during their tenure in your unit. Get a plumber and fixed those leakage problems. Leakage free will boost the tenant’s confidence and boost the rental value also.

Furniture
You can also increase your rental value by using your furniture. Use a sleeker and simpler furniture to create a minimalist feel, instead of bulky furniture. If your unit is a higher-end residential property, you might need to boost your rental by getting a custom-made furniture. For example, instead of a normal table, get one with a marble top or a wooden antique one – does it match the theme, paint, light or etc? Add some texture with different kind of materials to the house by using wooden antique, steel, marble and others.

By following the ways above, you can easily boost your rental value. Try it now and do let me know your thoughts in the comment section below.

Reece Mclaren Shocks Crowd with Submission Victory Over Gianni Subba in ONE: VISIONS OF VICTORY

ONE Championship™ (ONE) treated fans to another exciting evening of world-class martial arts action. The packed Axiata Arena in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia played host to ONE: VISIONS OF VICTORY, which featured the absolute best in local and international martial arts talent. In the main event, Australia’s Reece “Lightning” McLaren silenced the crowd with a shocking arm triangle submission victory over hometown favorite Gianni Subba.

In the main event, 26-year-old Reece “Lightning” McLaren of Gold Coast, Australia turned in a spectacular performance by routing Malaysian hometown hero Gianni Subba,  solidifying his position as a top contender in ONE Championship’s stacked flyweight division. McLaren flaunted his fluid striking, repeatedly hammering Subba with stinging punches and lashing leg kicks. In the end, McLaren’s impeccable ground game secured the finish for “Lightning” as he forced Subba to wave the white flag with an arm triangle submission in the second round to win in a ONE Flyweight World Championship title eliminator.

In the co-main event of the evening, 22-year-old Agilan Thani authored another awe-inspiring performance, overwhelming ONE Championship newcomer Amitesh Chaubey with his thunderous slams and powerful ground-and-pound. The action began with strikes at the center of the ONE cage as Chaubey goaded Thani into a striking exchange. Once Thani was able to close the distance however, the Malaysian wrestler dumped Chaubey onto the mat and easily transitioned into full mount. From top position, Thani blasted Chaubey with ground strikes to finish the round. The second round saw much of the same from Thani, but after another overhead slam that ended in side control, “Alligator” immediately sourced an Americana to force the tap.

With another spectacular performance, 19-year-old Christian “The Warrior” Lee marched to victory once more, submitting Japanese veteran Kazunori Yokota with a deep guillotine choke in the second round. Lee overwhelmed Yokota from start to finish, keeping his opponent on the defensive with his striking before taking matters to the ground. On the mat, Lee continued to dominate, easily transitioning to full mount while punishing Yokota with hard blows. In the second round, Lee sunk in a guillotine choke, leaving Yokota with no other option but to tap.

After falling short in his bid to become a world champion last November, former flyweight title challenger Danny “The King” Kingad reinserted his name into the winner’s column, picking up a hard-earned victory at the expense of Bulgarian martial artist Sotir Kichukov. With an incredible display of strength, Kingad impressed with a high-level striking and grappling performance after three fierce back-and-forth rounds. Kingad, who enjoyed most of the bout uncorking his lashing hooks and scoring successful takedowns, wore down Kichukov with hard blows from dominant positions. Despite Kingad’s menacing advances, Kichukov did not go down easily as he fished for submission finishes both in the second and third rounds. However, Kingad powered himself out of Kichukov’s attempts and outlasted his opponent to earn the unanimous decision.

In a gruelling three round contest, Luis “Sapo” Santos of Brazil overcame a tremendous effort from ONE Championship newcomer Kiamrian Abbasov of Kyrgyzstan to win by unanimous decision. The 38-year-old veteran displayed his familiar power early, tagging Abbasov with thudding high kicks and sharp combinations. Despite Santos’ striking dominance however, Abbasov was able to survive the onslaught and take the Brazilian to the final bell. In the end, all three judges scored in favor of Santos.

Eight-time Brazilian jiu-jitsu world champion Michelle Nicolini aced her third assignment in ONE Championship, putting Ukrainian opponent Iryna Kyselova to sleep courtesy of a wrenching rear naked choke in the first round. Nicolini wasted no time in taking matters right into her comfort zone on the mat, effortlessly converting on a takedown attempt from the get-go. Once on the canvas, Nicolini worked her magic and finished Kyselova by submission.

“Cannon” Ma Jia Wen of China showcased incredible grit and toughness as he overcame a furious start from Pakistan’s Ahmed Mujtaba to win by submission. Mujtaba stormed out of the gates, immediately scoring a takedown and then positioning himself on top to pummel Ma with ground strikes. Ma was able to return to his feet however, and towards the end of the round, he landed a beautiful left hook to the chin that sent Mujtaba crashing to the canvas. By the start of the second frame, Mujtaba appeared exhausted, prompting Ma to capitalize on the opportunity. Ma’s ground-and-pound and positional control gave him the perfect opening to fasten a bout-ending choke to earn the victory.

Rising star Muhammad “Jungle Cat” Aiman of Malaysia sent his hometown crowd into a frenzy with an inspiring performance, sneaking just past Cambodia’s Rin Saroth on the judges’ scorecards to win by three-round unanimous decision. Although Saroth put up a spirited effort, peppering Aiman with his khun khmer strikes, the Malaysian employed a well-rounded offense featuring solid mat work to score the hard-earned victory.

19-year-old “Shadow Cat” Jihin Radzuan made her highly-anticipated ONE Championship debut a successful one, impressing fans with her crisp striking and solid jiu-jitsu to defeat opponent Puja Tomar via second-round submission. It was an exciting contest to start off but after Radzuan got her rhythm, Tomar began having difficulty fending off submission attempts. In the end, a triangle choke from Radzuan forced the tap at the 2:23 minute mark of round two.

Kicking off the action at ONE: VISIONS OF VICTORY were Cambodia’s Khon Sichan and Indonesia’s Riski Umar, who gave fans three gruelling rounds of maximum effort. Chir Chir Fusion Chicken Factory Malaysia at Pavilion KL (Food Review)

$

I've had a lot of Korean fried chicken from different restaurants in KL. To pair it with a cold beer on an evening is definitely one of the best "chimaek" experience that I could ask for. So last month I was able to check out some of the new chicken dishes in Chir Chir Fusion Chicken Factory Malaysia. Located in Pavilion Elite which is part of Pavilion KL, Chir Chir is a casual restaurant chain that specialises in freshly-cooked chicken dishes. It is one of the largest chimaek franchises in South Korea with over 100 outlets across the country, China and Taiwan.

Before I proceed into the food descriptions, all these dishes I tried are not the usual ones that you've seen or eaten at those common Korean fried chicken joints. Without further ado, let's check out some of the new dishes that they are offering.

Curry Fried Chicken (RM30.90)

This dish is influenced by the local palates, Chir Chir's Curry Fried Chicken coats fresh chicken with their signature batter, deep-fried till crispy and golden-brown and showered in their very own addictive curry seasoning, exuding flavours of fragrant curry leaves and sliced almonds.

I personally enjoyed this dish a lot. It has a good amount of curry seasoning and the fried chicken was so crispy and tender. I don't find the seasoning too salty for my liking and I would definitely order this again next time.

The Rose Cheese Chiqueen (RM33.90)

The Rose Cheese Chiqueen is a dish with crispy fried chicken tenders in a rosy, creamy mix of mozzarella and fondue cheese, topped with chunky potato wedges and cherry tomatoes.

The staff gracefully poured the cheese fondue onto The Rose Cheese Chiqueen.

If you love cheese, I mean love and not just like cheese then this is the dish for you. All those chicken tenders soaked into the cheese gave me one of the best chicken and cheese I have ever tasted. This may sound cheesy but this dish is chicken licking good. Easily one of my top three dishes in Chir Chir.

The Spicy Chi-Bap (RM33.90)

The Spicy Chi-Bap is consist of juicy fried chicken tenders in a spicy marinade of onion salsa, BBQ sauce and sweet potato topped with crispy fries and grated cheese, served on a bed of fragrant seaweed-flavoured rice.

If you prefer something with a lot of carbs, then this is for you. The massive amount of carbs from the sweet potato, fries and rice are the ideal diet if you are on a carb loading diet. The taste from the chicken is a little too sweet but can easily be balanced off by mixing it with the rice.

Nest Snow (RM34.90)

Nest Snow is a bed of juicy cajun chicken tenders laid in rich cream sauce and sweet potato mash, topped with freshly whipped cream and grated cheese. It creates a melt in the mouth sensation.

This dish is not as cheesy as The Rose Cheese Chiqueen but it has a very unique flavor from the mixtures of all the ingredients. The taste is not as strong too in comparison with the other dishes but still good and the chicken was still quite tender despite being drenched in the cream sauce.

Honey Butter Chicken (RM24.90)

A highly addictive dish which I agree with crispy boneless fried chicken chucks with potato wedges and rice cakes, tossed with honey butter sauce and seasoning.

I would like to order just the rice cakes alone as a side dish or appetizer because it was so good. Chicken wise, it can be slightly sweet but it can easily be balanced off with the dipping sauce. Right at this moment I am still thinking about the rice cake. I have never craved for rice cake so much until I ate this dish.

Grapefruit Yogurt (RM14.90/glass or RM30.90/jar)

Next up we had two different drinks. The first one is the Grapefruit Yogurt which is an ice-blend mix of grapefruit yogurt, grapefruit and mint leaves. It has a combination of sweet and bitter taste but the bitterness was a stronger. The grapefruit is high with vitamin C and other nutrients so if you seldom eat fruits, you should order this drink.

Pineapple Smoothie (RM14.90/glass or RM30.90/jar)

The Pineapple Smoothie is an ice-blend tropical mix of pineapple puree, coconut, strawberry, banana and mint leaves. This drink is sweet and rich with fruity flavor. Kids would definitely like this and I, myself too enjoy this drink a lot. Two to three person can share a jar of this drink.

Some interesting interior shots I took in Chir Chir.

The seatings are comfortable with good lighting and the staff were quite friendly.

Overall, I have tasted some of the interesting fried chicken dishes in Chir Chir. I recommend to my readers to try out some of their new dishes with family and friends. Sharing dishes is a good idea since the portion is quite adequate but eating there by yourself is okay too with their affordable combo menu. Currently this is their one and only outlet in Malaysia, hopefully there will be more to come in the near future.

11street (www.11street.my); Malaysia’s number two online marketplace, today announced that in 2017, 56% of its registered sellers were women’ selling products across various categories. This data was revealed in conjunction with International Women’s Day.

Hoseok Kim, CEO of 11street

CEO of 11street, Hoseok Kim said: “Online shopping has proven to be a boon for female entrepreneurs and they are thriving in the e-commerce industry. The top category with the highest number of registered female sellers is in the health & beauty segment. 30% of the female entrepreneurs on 11street are selling cosmetics, fragrance, dietary supplements & tools, skin & personal care items online.”

A trainer at the 11street Academy, Khairul Azrey, briefs sellers on promotion management in one of their session

The platform that first launched in Malaysia in 2015 has had a fierce vision to help sellers reach their full potential, particularly with female entrepreneurs through its seller development programs and the 11street Academy.

11street sellers engaged in a training session at the 11street Academy

Hoseok Kim added, “On average, 11street’s sellers have witnessed an increase in sales revenue by 15% to 20% within six months of completing the courses under the 11street Academy, the nation’s first certified e-commerce certification platform. Many of the women entrepreneurs have outperformed the average benchmark, and some have even doubled or tripled their sales performance.”

Agnes Chua, Managing Director of JOCOM

Agnes Chua from JOCOM who has an online grocer app on 11street has enjoyed a 300% growth since joining 11street. JOCOM is an integrated solution that connects rural farmers, traders and vendors with consumers via e-commerce. She started a business in e-commerce to allow herself more flexibility; a factor that is especially crucial to those balancing motherhood and other familial responsibilities, in addition to the advantage of being one’s own boss, as well as lower costs than starting a brick and mortar business. With support from 11street, Agnes has started to see the fruits of her labour come to life with the success that JOCOM is enjoying “Rather than competing with each other, why don’t we collaborate and forge a stronger outcome together?” she said.

Tapping into Male-Dominated Categories
In addition, 11street saw 7% of its female sellers tapping into the categories of large electronic appliances, camera, smartwatches & wearables, audio & gaming and home improvement. One notable female entrepreneur who has definitely broken the gender stereotypes of women in e-commerce industry is Chief Operating Officer of IT Comp, Sharon Goh. Interestingly, despite not having a background in IT, Sharon was savvy enough to foresee that e-commerce was the future trend and hopped onto the bandwagon.

Sharon Goh, COO of IT Comp

In 2015, Sharon and IT Comp joined forces with 11street, a partnership that eventually helped her become one of the top players in a typically male-dominated category of sales on 11street’s marketplace: Mobile, IT & and Electronics.

Ong Mei Jye, Director of the N4 Camera Store

Director of the N4 Camera Store Sdn Bhd, Ong Mei Jye also spoke about how e-commerce changed her business and her life. “I have found greater opportunities in providing consumer digital products and services online, like a steadier growth and wider possibilities at the lowest cost. By partnering with online marketplaces, including 11street, the N4 Camera Store has successfully achieved a turnover of 20% in our group business and I am positive to see more growth in the e-commerce sector,” Ong said.

Neffos N1 by TP-Link Officially Launched in Malaysia

Yesterday, I was invited to the launch of the Neffos N1, the latest flagship smartphone by TP-Link. TP-Link, a leading provider of networking solutions and smart home technology for seven consecutive years, has unveiled its latest smartphone, the Neffos N1. Neffos was established to provide consumers around the world with high-quality yet affordable devices.

The Neffos N1 with a 5.5-inch display that has a full-HD resolution, which works out to a crisp 403 pixels per inch.

The Neffos brand has been built by maintaining and nurturing a vision of reliability, affordability and continuous innovation, the same principles upheld by TP-Link throughout its rich 22-year history. The Neffos N1 reflects this vision perfectly, sporting a striking and carefully crafted metal design, and combining imaging excellence with strong all-around performance — all while maintaining a price point that is competitive and attractive to the public.

The highlight can be found around the back, where the sleek metal chassis holds a 12-megapixel dual-camera setup — the first ever for a Neffos device. An advanced RGB Sony IMX386 sensor captures a broad spectrum of colors, while the other — a monochrome Sony IMX386 sensor — takes care of the details, even the littlest ones.

Dual camera setup, double the fun! The body overall feels solid and definitely made with a high quality material but the downside is that the back is prone to fingerprint smudges.

The two 12-megapixel rear cameras work harmoniously to shoot beautiful portraits with a shallow depth of field. The bokeh-effect feature makes it possible for subjects to stand out from the background, similar to how an expensive DSLR camera with a wide-aperture lens would take pictures.

Jason Xu, Chief Executive Officer, Neffos said, "Our customers were asking for a dual-camera smartphone that doesn't compromise on affordability and other important features, and that's what we've delivered with the Neffos N1."

Jason Xu, Chief Executive Officer of Neffos, delivers his opening address at the launch of the Neffos N1 held at the Renaissance Hotel, Kuala Lumpur.

Combine that multi-frame noise-reduction algorithms and the ability to capture more light, and you get incredibly sharp, vivid photos, even at night. This makes the smartphone the kind of product that mobile photographers have been waiting for. Snapping beautiful selfies is quick and easy as well, thanks to the sharp, 8-megapixel camera on the front.

"More than anything else, this device meets the needs and lifestyle of users who want a superior camera experience that doesn't break their budget," Xu added.

Hugo Cai, Director of TP-Link Distribution Malaysia Sdn Bhd

Providing some serious firepower to the N1 is a fast yet efficient MediaTek Helio P25 chipset with eight CPU cores, running up to 2.6GHz and 4GB of RAM. That said, the phone should have zero problems firing up intensive apps and games and cycling through them. Meanwhile, the 64GB of baseline storage is plenty for your needs, with room for more — up to an additional 128GB — via a microSD card.

All the components are tucked away into a sleek metal housing with smooth, rounded edges that make the Neffos N1 a wonderfully elegant piece of hardware to carry around. It's impressively thin, too, boasting a thickness of 7.5mm.

Kerry Yang, Product Manager of Neffos explaining the latest features available in the Neffos N1

But the N1 isn't just built for taking fantastic photos and powering through tasks without stalling. Another major selling point is the 5.5-inch display that has a full-HD resolution, which works out to a crisp 403 pixels per inch. The size and sharpness of the panel ensure comfortable experiences when browsing the web, watching videos, playing games, and typing on the device.

Battery life is also impressive with the 3,260mAh battery inside the N1, lasting an entire work day without needing a refill. When things do run low, charging is performed over a USB Type-C port you'll find at the bottom. Fast charging is supported, so just several minutes hooked up to a power outlet will provide hours of use, which should be enough to get you out of a bind until the next charging period.

Available in Space Black, the Neffos N1 will make its first market debut worldwide beginning with Malaysia, retailing at RM1,099. It will be available in all select retail outlets and distributors nationwide, beginning 16 March 2018. To top it off, the N1 will also be available for purchase at Lazada.my, with the first 30 customers receiving an exclusive premium worth up to RM299.

Their entry level Neffos C5A (RM299) and Neffos C7 (RM599) are available as well. The prices of all three devices are really affordable in my opinion and they have their very own unique features that suits every consumer.

At this moment, I have yet to review any Neffos smartphone devices. Hopefully I will get to try experience the phone on a daily basis soon. *hint hint*

To purchase the above devices, head to https://goo.gl/3NCKrk log on to the Neffos website http://www.neffos.my/ for more details.

Bloggers' Nite-Out 2018 with HerbaLine's New Integrated Beauty & Wellness Outlet at Hartamas

On 8th of March, I was invited to attend a Bloggers' Nite-Out 2018 with the launch of the new 3 in 1 outlet at Hartamas by HerbaLine. They have reached another milestone with the launch of the outlet, in collaboration with Malaysia’s reputable wellness centre – Healthland – in a bid to bring an enhanced beauty wellness experience to Malaysians.

For those who are into facial spa services, HerbaLine is indeed a familiar brand. After 17 years operating as a facial spa brand, a new chapter has opened on HerbaLine as the company embraces new market expectations by diversifying its beauty business into food and hospitality arenas with focus on integrated wellness business. As for food, they collaborated with Mama Kim. Do read further as I will be explaining about the three establishments.

Our first stop was the HerbaLine Facial Spa which is on the second floor. Staying true to its “no sign course policy, consumers’ minds are immediately put to ease when they visit this facial spa which offers various cleansing, moisturizing and lifting facials or Body Massage Treatments – complemented by value-added services such as sea salt foot bath, fish spa therapy, detox lemongrass drinks etc.

A variety of products which are available at HerbaLine Facial Spa.

Enjoying a cup of warm tea while waiting for my spa session.

At this corner, customer will first rinse their feet with salt. It can also quell foot odor, help heal fungus or ingrown nails, and soothe dry skin as well.

A picture of me rinsing my feet before proceeding to the spa session.

Their facial rooms are definitely very comfortable and it has a very relaxing atmosphere. There's room for single customer as well as for couple.

We will go through this natural aromatherapy before and after the facial session.

A short hand massage session provided by the staff and as you can see in the picture above, Cik Lily Putih is really enjoying the massage.

Here's the fish spa pond in HerbaLine Facial Spa. It can fit 3 to 4 pax comfortably at a time. The fish exfoliation is claimed to stimulate blood flow and improve circulation, remove bacteria, reduce foot odour and help with athlete's foot. It's also claimed feet will be smoother and softer after treatment.

Personally I feel that the skin on my feet has became really smooth after the fish spa. It can be a little ticklish at the beginning but after a while, it didn't feel ticklish anymore and it's actually quite enjoyable plus the fishes were so cute. Hahaha...

As we proceed to the lower floor, the Healthland Family Wellness Centre is located on the first floor of the establishment. With a premium wellspring of knowledge on wellness, Healthland promotes a holistic lifestyle with health program and activities. All our therapists are professionally trained by the acclaimed Wellness Academy in Thailand. There's plenty of beds for all the massages offered by them and the one which I think is the most interesting is the female only massage room that caters female out there who preferred better privacy.

Before our foot massage, the masseuse washed our feet thoroughly.

We entered the massage room which was filled with plenty of chairs for the foot massage session an the best thing was, it is equipped with a huge movie screen!

While the masseuse was massaging my feet, I examined the surrounding and found a couple of mineral water, a headphone for the movie and socket point to charge our mobile devices. That's pretty neat in my opinion. How I wish the session could be longer since 15 minutes were definitely not enough for me!

Lemongrass tea is one of my favorite drink

The last stop, it's Mama Kim Sauna Mee Cafe which is on the ground floor. HerbaLine in-house cafe offers a comprehensive menu with a philosophy of “Where Healthy Is Yummy”. The healthy recipes with the concept of 80% vegetable and 20% meat in a single dish makes Mama Kim a stand-out for the neighborhood / community who desires healthy, authentic yummy dishes.

Salad and fruits as appetizer

The principles of Mama Kim’s dishes include:
• 5 major colours
• Fresh ingredients
• No MSG
• No white flour
• No sugar, less salt, less deep fried.
• Balanced nutrients
• 80% vegetables / 20% meat average

Their signature dish is the Sauna Mee that is packed with multiple vegetables and having option to choose between brown rice or pumpkin noodles. That sound really healthy already!

The ingredients in the Sauna Mee is really fresh and it is cooked from the heated stone pot by pouring the hot soup into it. Not only it taste delicious, it is also quite affordable at only RM15.90 each.

Just look at our happy faces while enjoying the Sauna Mee.

I was really lucky to have won a prize from the lucky draw at the Bloggers' Nite-Out 2018

The expansion of the HerbaLine’s portfolio is inspired by emerging consumer trends for integration of various services which not only beautifies, but pampers and rejuvenates the face, body and total well-being. Overall, I do enjoy the experience in HerbaLine, HealthLand and Mama Kim. I find that it's very convenient to be able to spend time in one place without needing to travel far away.

Students and parents rejoice as the school holiday is finally here again! Some of you might be going for a family trip to anywhere around the world to spend time together. Otherwise, some of you didn't want to go for another trip since it will cost you a bomb yet you still want to plan something for your children. So if you are reading this blog post, I assumed that at this point of time, you have ran out of ideas or tired of doing the same activity every school holiday.

I am sure that you definitely want to avoid having your children playing with their smartphones or tablets 24/7 at home and becoming a lazy couch potato. So if you are staying within the vicinity of Kuala Lumpur, here are the top five things that you and your family can do during school holiday.

1.  Magic Show and Magical Masquerade Show

You can catch the Magic Show as well as the Magical Masquerade Show on the same day. In conjunction with Earth Hour 2018, 1 Mont Kiara would like to bring out the 'green' in you! You  and your family can participate in this environmental movement on the 24th of March 2018. The lights out will be starting on 8.30pm and followed by the Magical Masquerade Show after.

2. Terrarium Making Workshop

If the above activity is not enough, there will be a Terrarium Making Workshop on two days from 24th until 25th of March 2018. For those who have no idea what a terrarium is, it is a decorative garden that is grown in sealable glass containers that provide just enough of an opening for the gardener to access their plants. Terrarium can also be grown in open glass container.

The Terrarium Making Workshop will not only enhance the creativity of your children, but it will also give them the awareness to appreciate our environment more.

3. LED Lion Dance and LED Butterfly Show

Chinese New Year has just passed last month and the LED Lion Dance has been going around viral on the Internet. So if you missed the chance to catch the electrifying LED Lion Dance performances, you can still check them out during the Earth Hour event at 1 Mont Kiara.

Aside from that there's also the LED Butterfly Show with the dance performers dressing in Butterfly-like outfit and lighting up the entire performance with LED attached on the dresses. It is definitely a performance not be to be missed!

4. Petting Zoo

If your children are a fan of animals, they can also visit 1 Mont Kiara for the Easter Celebration. The Easter Bunny is a folkloric figure and symbol of Easter, depicted as a rabbit bringing Easter eggs. There is no need to bring your kids to travel far away to the zoo and pay a high entrance fee just to pet the animals. You just need to head over to 1 Mont Kiara to see them for yourself on the 7th and 8th April 2018!

5. Playtime! Eggspert Easter Egg Hunter

Last but not least, what is Easter without an Easter egg hunt activity? Your children can have a good playtime hunting Easter eggs with other children. This activity is good to develop their mental and physical health as well as communicate ability with other children and adults as well.

Above is the full schedule for the Earth Hour and Easter Celebration that's happening in 1 Mont Kiara. There's plenty of activities schedule for you and your family to take part in. So do remember to save your date and bring your family and friends too to enjoy the activities in 1 Mont Kiara.

For Better Flowers Go to A Better Florist

A Better Florist is a flower shop that is fairly new to Malaysia, but a floral team that has already been written about as the best florist in Malaysia. There’s no doubt – this is a team that knows what they are doing, as they undoubtedly have some of the most beautiful floral arrangements I have ever seen.

I did a little research and found they were the best florist in Singapore, and they still are, and that they got famous with their flower delivery Singapore consider to be the best. And after a few orders, I noticed that there is no difference between their flower delivery here and there. They offer a same day flower delivery in Malaysia as well, hence they are definitely going to be called the best florist in Kuala Lumpur, if they already aren’t.

One of the greatest features about A Better Florist is that they have a wide range, but one that isn’t boring or common. Every bouquet or floral arrangement is creative. in its own way, and it never resembles anything you’ve seen before, which is not only difficult but sometimes it seems impossible. Somehow they do it with everything from hand bouquet to grand opening flowers.

I personally enjoy that I can turn to them for anything, as they always have everything you need, and common floral arrangements such as funeral flowers or flowers for dates, baby showers etc. But it’s not just about the appropriateness of the funeral flowers and the large variety. They have this array of fruit basket options that are breathtaking, as well as a hamper selection you’re really going to love. Hampers and fruit baskets are ideal gifts for holidays, anniversaries and so many other occasions. With a get well soon hamper you can wish someone a speedy recovery, while with a baby hamper you get to give a mom-to-be all that she needs for the baby. And the fact that A Better Florist isn’t just a florist is something I truly appreciate. You can easily grab everything in one place, without even bothering to roam around the city in search for gifts. You have it all on one place.

And with their incredible same day flower delivery, you’re bound to fall in love with A Better Florist. It’s impossible to find a match for their delivery, not only because it’s on the same day, but because it’s also completely free.

This is the kind of a business they run whether you need an UAE flower delivery, or a Hong Kong flower delivery. Being the best florist in Hong Kong, whose flower delivery HK loves, I am sure you won’t be disappointed. The bottom line being, whether it’s the best florist in Dubai you want or in Malaysia, A Better Florist fits the description to the top.

Samsonite (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd., the world's largest and most recognised designers and distributors in the luggage industry is collaborating with Make-A-Wish Malaysia to create life-changing wishes come true for children with critical illnesses through its “Luggage Trade-In Programme” happening from 15 March onwards.

Under this programme, customers may trade-in their used luggage at participating Samsonite stores and receive up to 40% off their purchase of selected Samsonite luggage. For every luggage that is traded in, Samsonite will pledge RM10 to Make-A-Wish Malaysia. On top of that, the preloved luggage bags received will be assessed and those which are still in good condition will be donated to Make-A-Wish Malaysia to be used or distributed at their discretion.

“This is the first time in Malaysia that we are embarking on this programme, and Samsonite is proud to collaborate with such an esteemed organisation to help make wishes come true for children in Malaysia who are suffering from critical illnesses. We believe that every child should have the opportunity to experience fun and laughter in their life’s journey, despite their battle with illness. We also strongly believe in giving back to the community and what better way to do so than to give hope to children for a better tomorrow. After all, children are our hope for the future.” said Ambert Khoo, Country Head of Samsonite (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd.

“We are honoured to be collaborating with Samsonite (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd for this wonderful campaign. As a self-supported non-government organisation, we rely solely on fundraising and donations from corporations and individuals to enable us to continue our mission of granting the wishes of children who are suffering from critical illnesses. Up to 2018, we have granted over 423 wishes to children in Malaysia and we hope that through this programme, we are able to grant more wishes.” said Irene Tan, Chief Executive Officer of Make-A-Wish Malaysia.

Make-A-Wish Malaysia is a self-supported non-government organisation that strongly believes in the Power of a Wish as a wish awakens the imagination, builds excitement and encourages the child to dream, providing laughter and fun. When the wish of a critically-ill child is granted this will give them a sense of hope and inspire confidence in them, enabling the child and family to better cope with fear and pain associated with their fight.

Last year, I covered the Make Your Mark in Melbourne competition and I saw plenty of talented local artists who took part in the competition. I have blogged about the event here. So this year, the competition is back again and this is definitely a good news for our local artists to participate.

Image archive from last year's competition

Visit Victoria (VV), Publika Shopping Gallery and UEM Sunrise is calling all aspiring and professional Malaysian street artists to take part in the Make Your Mark in Melbourne in collaboration with UEM Sunrise street art competition.

Submit your artwork by 8 April 2018, 5pm via www.makeyourmarkinmelbourne.com for the chance to get your very own wall at the regional Victoria’s Wall to Wall Benalla 2019, the only street art festival of its kind in Australia, and your share of the RM48,000 total cash prize.

Last year’s winner, Leonard Siaw, is the first Malaysian street artist to make a mark in Melbourne at the Wall to Wall Benalla 2018; and rubbed shoulders with a host of local and international street artists such as George Rose, Justine McAllister, Lolo Ys, Tim Bowtell; as he painted a 1-storey building.

Upon completing his work of art entitled Fishing Fun, Siaw expressed,” This has been such a fruitful trip for me – it has enriched and widened my point of view of world-class street art culture. It has been amazing to be able to meet so many local and international artists where we shared our knowledge freely. Benalla and Melbourne is such a lovely and creative place”.

Shaun Hossack, artistic director of Wall to Wall Benalla and founder of Juddy Roller Studios – who is head of the competition’s judging panel – shared, “We are pleased to be included in the Make Your Mark In Melbourne programme again. From what Leonard has demonstrated at the recent Wall To Wall Benalla greatly showcases the great talents that can be found in Malaysia. For a long time now, Melbourne is known as one of the world’s great street art capitals for its unique expressions of art found almost everywhere throughout the city and the region. It is such a great place to have an art cultural experience. I can’t wait to take a look at this year’s submissions and see more Malaysian talents making their mark at the Wall to Wall".

A highlight of the Wall to Wall Festival was the completion of the Goorambat silo project, where street artist Dvate painted a giant mural on the silo, highlighting the plight of the Barking Owl, which is endangered in the region. Image captured by Nicole Reed www.nicolereed.photography

This year’s participants are invited to submit their original artwork in digital format depicting any one or more of the following Melbourne related themes: food and drink; architecture; arts and culture; events and nature. Ten shortlisted finalists will then be invited to showcase their artistic talents by creating their respective works of art live at the Publika Shopping Gallery. Along with a specially appointed panel of judges, the finalists’ works will also be open for public votes.

Celia Ho, regional manager of Visit Victoria shared, “Melbourne’s art and culture is already the envy of most. By taking on the second year of this competition, we hope to further showcase Melbourne’s art credentials with our important Malaysian audiences and potential travellers. We are also pleased to work closely with Publika and UEM Sunrise again, both of which are equally driven and passionate to showcase the art movement locally and in Melbourne”.

"We are thrilled to be a part of this exciting initiative for the second year. We strongly advocate the creative arts, be it music, exhibitions and art in all forms. Our affinity with Melbourne is also evident with our developments there notably Aurora Melbourne Central, Conservatory and Zaha Hadid Architects-designed Mayfair. We cannot wait to showcase the works of Malaysian artists, while taking it to an international level,’’ said UEM Sunrise Berhad chief executive officer and managing director, Anwar Syahrin Abdul Ajib.

Winners will also receive the opportunity to showcase their works at UEM Sunrise developments in Melbourne.

Just yesterday, Vivo has unveiled the V9 – an all-new FullView™ Display smartphone, with a 90% screen-to-body ratio that packs AI-powered features in a sleek and stylish design. From photography to enhanced mobile performance, the V9 adapts to specific users’ needs to create the perfect shot while providing a fun and optimized mobile experience. Vivo is also bolstering its efforts to engage with local customers by announcing Alvin Chong the brand’s Music Icon, adding to Vivo’s line-up of star-studded brand personalities.

The Vivo V9 is an all-new FullView™ Display smartphone, with a 90% screen-to-body ratio that packs AI-powered features in a sleek and stylish design.

“The rapid development in mobile technology is constantly changing the way we communicate and its evolving consumers’ lifestyles, with smartphones becoming the epicenter of their daily routine. This has inspired Vivo to constantly innovate; and our new flagship – the Vivo V9 – is designed to enhance customers’ experience while capturing breathtaking images, enjoying entertainment on-the-go or simply completing their tasks over their smartphones,” said Mike Xu, Chief Executive Officer of Vivo Malaysia.

FullView™ Display for Unlimited Fun
The V9 is as compact in design as a traditional 5.5-inch phone but offers an incredible 6.3-inch display, while still feeling comfortable in your hand. The Vivo V9 adopts a 19:9 aspect ratio to increase screen size by 5.2% compared to the previous generation’s V7+, and the side bezels have been reduced by 19% to a mere 1.75mm. Taking phone design to the extraordinary, every arc and curve on the ergonomically optimized 3D curved cover is carefully polished to ensure absolute comfort in the palm of your hand.

Creating the Perfect Shot with AI Photography
New AI-powered camera functions continue Vivo’s ambitions to provide smart mobile photography with the V9’s crystal-clear 24MP front camera and 16MP+5MP dual rear camera. Based on in-depth research, powerful software and machine learning, Vivo uses AI to help consumers pursue a great photo that truly represents their beauty.

V9 comes equipped with cutting-edge, AI-powered Super HDR feature that auto-detects the surrounding in order to produce clearer photos, better colours, more details and better tones. Super HDR captures and merges more frames and intelligently merges them to cater to more extreme lighting scenarios. Super HDR employs smart scene detection to balance the lighting of the person and the background to create a natural feel.

AI Face Beauty identifies users’ age, gender, skin tone and texture, as well as the surrounding lighting environment. A comprehensive database of almost one million facial images from around the world has been used to train the AI algorithm. This allows AI Face Beauty to adapt and apply the ideal algorithm for optimized photos. As usage increases, the AI will also learn your customized setting preferences, automatically creating the ideal photo every time and exactly the way you want.

The new AI Selfie Lighting feature also allows users create artistic photo masterpieces anytime anywhere without an elaborate equipment setup. The V9’s AI algorithm transforms the facial profile in the original 2D photo into a 3D model to process the light accents authentically. Users can choose from a range of effects like Natural Light, Studio Light, Stereo Light and Monochrome Background. When coupled with AR Stickers that provides numerous effects to decorate your selfie, the V9 helps users to take selfies that reflect their unique style with just a few clicks.

The rear facing 16MP+5MP dual camera of V9 creates amazing bokeh shots that rival those taken on a DSLR camera using its AI Bokeh algorithm, which has been optimized based on machine learning, so it can achieve high-level precision in identifying the key subject to ensure optimal focus in the photo.

AI-Optimized Mobile Experience
The V9’s AI also ensures the best mobile performance and endurance with Vivo’s AI Smart Engine. By learning your usage habits and preferences, the AI Smart Engine prioritizes processing and storage resources for an optimized experience. Not only does it ensure smooth operation and save power, as the AI picks up on your usage habits, Smart Engine can accurately predict your next move and have your favorite apps launch 20% faster.

With its updated AI Face Access technology, the V9 can detect the reflection of natural skin and the subtle movements of the face to further reduce the possibility of accidently unlocking when shown photos or videos. AI Face Access for App-Lock even helps secure your data and privacy for individual applications.

The V9’s AI Attention Sensing also recognizes when you’re looking at the phone to keep disruption to a minimum by automatically reducing the volume of message alerts, incoming calls and alarms, since you’re already looking at the screen.

The Vivo V9 has no issue playing Multiplayer Online Battle Arena (MOBA) games.

Entertainment and Power
Updated Game Mode delivers the hyper-focused environment required for the most dedicated gamers with the ability to block all messages, calls and alerts while gaming. Alternately, you can set it up to display phone calls from designated contacts only. The new picture-in-picture for games feature means you won’t even have to exit the game to reply to critical messages.

The V9 comes equipped with the latest Android 8.1 OS and is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 626 octa-core processor, 4GB RAM and 64 ROM.
